Eagle BORs

Troop 1631 convened Eagle BORs on May 30 and May 31, 2006. Michael Perez and Bryan Kobos appeared before the Boards and were deemed worthy to advance to the rank of Eagle Scout. Michael and Bryan were the 99th and 100th Eagle Scouts, respectively, to achieve the rank in Troop 1631. Congratulations scouts for a job well done and welcome to the Eagle’s Nest! We will shortly be accepting bids for constructing an addition to the nest to accommodate the second hundred Eagles!

Tour of the FBI

From: Lois [mailto:lois@texcetera.com]
Sent: Tuesday, May 09, 2006 6:55 PM
Subject: Tour of the FBI

If your scout is working on the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge and needs part 2 (c) -- "tour a federal facility", we have arranged a tour of the FBI facility in Houston on Thursday, May 25 at 1:30.  The 25th is a half-day of school for both the high school and middle school so we should be able to be there by 1:30.  We can car pool from the Raymond home or you can arrange to meet in the lobby of the FBI building which is located at 2500 East T C Jester.

The tour will take about an hour and will include a tour of the gun vault, booking room, fingerprinting and a video.  There will also be time to ask questions.

This tour is open to adults as well as the Troop 1631scouts.  (You can even go if you're just curious.) I'll need to write a letter to the tour director and inform him of the number of people planning to attend so please RSVP to me ASAP.  Also,  I'll need to provide the names, date of birth and driver's license number of all adults attending.

I'd like to send the letter this weekend, so please respond by Friday whether you can go on the 25th. We need a minimum of 7 people to go, so please try and fit this into your schedule if at all possible.

Thanks,
Lois Raymond

A parent meeting for all boys attending summer camp has been scheduled for Monday June 5, during the troop meeting at First Colony Christian Church.  All boys signed up for the high-adventure camp will need to bring Class 3 medical forms (signed by a doctor) to the meeting, so this early notice should give you plenty of time.

Philmont Trek Meeting

I will hold a mandatory Philmont Trek meeting at the troop meeting on May
15.

I will have commitment forms and will collect checks for participation. We
will form our crews on the 15th.

More information to follow this weekend, but I wanted to get an email blast
out that if you want to go to Philmont in 2007, a representative of you must
attend this meeting. This includes parents of Scouts attending, and parents
who wish to attend as advisors.

Campout/CoH REMINDERS

Family Campout / Court of Honor

Map: http://WedelichBeachHouse.notlong.com

Permission slip: www.t1631.org/files

The Family Campout / Court of Honor is this weekend, and their are several things to pass on.

1. Scouts going on Friday should meet at 6:00 PM in the Colony Bend Elementary parking lot.

2. At this time it appears that we will need drivers Friday evening to help take the boys down to Bolivar. Call or email Debbie Wedelich if you can help (281-980-1734 or debbie@wedelich.com).

3. If you need anything from troop storage, you must let Debbie know by early tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon.

4. If you plan to eat dinner Saturday and have not yet told Debbie, please let her know so she has enough brisquet.

5. A permission slip will be posted on the website tonight and also available Friday.

6. Families should bring chairs, swimsuits, towels, water toys, and sun screen.

Important food reminders:
  • The troop will be providing brisquet for the Saturday dinner meal only.
  • Each family should bring a favorite side dish (to share) Saturday evening.
  • Campers are responsibe for Friday snacks, Saturday breakfast and lunch, and Sunday breakfast, plus all drinks.
  • Campers are also responsibe for any cooking gear you may need.
Saturday dinner is planned between 4:30 and 5:00, with the Court of Honor beginning around 6:00. This should allow families returning to Sugar Land to get home at a reasonable hour.

P.S. - It's awfully nice of the Wedelich's to make their beach property available for this event. It's also an awful lot of work for them--especially with Hank being out of the country till tomorrow. Anything you can do to help ease their load is greatly appreciated.
