New summer camp pictures posted
Boy Scout Troop 1631 in Sugar Land, Texas.
The following resolution was passed at the May 17 Troop Parent/Committee Meeting:
More parents need to start attending the monthly parent meeting. As it is, just three or four people are making all the decisions which impact the entire troop. In addition, these are mostly parents of older scouts who will be leaving the troop within a couple of years. It was suggested that current active members begin calling and soliciting other parents to attend.
Please consider joining us at 7:30 PM Wednesday evening, at First Colony Christian Church across from Clements HS (usually upstairs).

Congratulations to Debbie Wedelich for being awarded the highest honor the
Sam Houston Area Council can bestow: the Silver Beaver.
The Silver Beaver is awarded for distinguished service to youth. The
council is limited in how many Silver Beavers can be awarded in a year, and
the recipient must be nominated by his or her peers, and pass a stringent
review board.
Debbie has been a part of Scouting all her life and has worked with Girl
Scouts, Cubs, Boy Scouts and at the district level in many capacities.
Debbie embodies Scout spirit defined as living the Scout Oath and Law in
one's everyday actions. In addition to donating her time to Scouting Debbie
is involved in a number of other charitable activities. Debbie is the proud
mother of two Eagle Scouts, with a third on the way, and a Gold Award Girl
Scout.
The Silver Beaver is a well-deserved award for Debbie and I'm sure I speak
for us all when I say, Debbie, your tireless work and endless energy has
improved all of our lives, and many people we'll never know. Our society is
better for you and people like you who value service and dedication to
others so highly. Congratulations on this honor. You are more than
deserving of it and we are all very, very proud of you.
Yours in Scouting,
Bill Farrell
To celebrate the last week of summer vacation the troop meeting next Monday will be held at Grant's Lake, at 2419 Hodges Bend Circle in Sugar Land, the home of Cliff, Lois and Chance Raymond (see map). This is a family event, so your entire family is invited. To give the boys more time, we plan to start about 6PM, and stop when it gets dark.
We plan to have at least 3 canoes, a kayak, and a paddle boat, but if you have something that floats, please bring it! (If it's too large to fit through my gate you probably should launch it on the other side of the lake.) No one will be allowed on the water without a PFD, so also please bring life jackets. Water pistols and other water toys are also okay to bring.
MOST IMPORTANT.....Please wear water shoes in case you should accidentally fall in the water. Swimming is not permitted--Grants Lake is NOT a swimming pool--and there are known to be some sharp objects on the bottom!
It would be very helpful if you would respond to this message with how many in your family plan to attend. We plan to pick up hot dogs, hamburgers and veggies on Monday, and would like to have some idea how much we'll need.
Thanks for your help, and we hope to see all of you next Monday!
